What happens when you find the staircase in level 1? When you stand on it you should get a popup dialog asking if you want to leave the level. Also, check your Flash settings are set to allow the game to save data - it really should continue if it's denied but that might be a problem.
There should be different ways to earn money, more then fishing (which is totally random) and gambling (even more randomnes)
like a bar, same as the xp bar. Or to combine the xp bar with money. Which will be upgraded the same as it will be now.
maybe there can be a way to make fishing less random. divide the current fishing map in several ones. each map contains a certain fish (or several). By adding a shop to this fishing area you are capable to buy the next area (not too high of a price) and/or new rods which increase the speed of catching fish.
though these upgrades might make the game less idle.
another upgrade: Make fishing idle. Make a list of all the fishes capable of catching. You should select the ones you want to catch. *Button: "go fishing!"* and then the fishing will go by itself so you dont have to keep clicking "cast" and "reel"
just see if there is potential in this.

uhmm... on Kong we can't complete every upgrade... so we shall never gain the achievement Mad Scientist, because we are unable to buy and upgrade the "infection spell" on kong. I hope there is a way to adjust this for kongregate, because i have spend some time in upgrading all of the rest.
