[WARNING THIS COMMENT IS SPOILER HEAVY] pt2: People generally reacted strangely to the violence (the dead man in the pharmacy?? hello???) but that didn't seem like that was the intent. Im not positive that the (many) allusions to stephan king were purposeful, but some story beats felt completely copied from his work. Despite everything I just complained about, I would love more games like this. It was gory, but i appreciated the love and hard work put in. Clearly a massive amount of thought and planning went into this and I can't fault the creators for that. Like I said, with more character development, and a sharp eye, this game really could have blown me away. In it's current state, its still great, but leaves a lot to be desired.
[WARNING THIS COMMENT IS SPOILER HEAVY] This game is excellently edgy and fun. The art made the point and click aspect difficult. Im generally really good at escape games but this one, despite how good it can look, made pixel hunting necessary. Most of the mini games were pointless and frustrating (controls were slow, the shotgun made most of the fps aspect really slow but somehow easy) and some puzzles had answers that didn't really seem obvious unless you had a walkthrough. The ending was also a problem. I know the point is that it is dark, but it was dark needlessly. We never even see Amy after Ira shoots Jonathan and that isnt the best way to leave a character, let alone a character we're supposed to hope survives. We just dont know. Tark could have used more development (and backstory) and having him interact more with Ira in the pharmacy would have been welcome.
