In another version of the story, Orpheus plays his lyre to put Kérberos, the three-headed canine guardian of Hadēs, to sleep, after which he was allowed to take Eurydíkē's soul back.
My guess is that the huge devil guy at the end(ish) of the game was supposed to be Hadēs, though I'm not sure about the other things (nothing that looked even remotely like Kérberos appeared, surprisingly, though I wonder whether the first boss was supposed to be him or not).
quasperater managed to spell Orpheus in two different ways, and neither of them were right...
I was very excited when I found out (after I accidentally "looked back" and the girl died) that this was the story of Orpheus and Eurydíkē. Eurydíkē (or Eurydice if you prefer) stepped on a venomous snake, which killed her. Orpheus went to the Underworld to retrieve her, and his music was so good that Hadēs (who wasn't actually as bad a guy as the media portrays him - in fact he was quite nice in the original myths, it was Zeus who was the real jerk) allowed him to take her soul back, but on one condition - that he must walk in front of her and not look back until they had left the Underworld. Naturally, Orpheus looked back just before they got out, and Eurydíkē vanished before his eyes (some sources say she turned to stone).
It seems to get stuck on one button occasionally (like my shark will keep biting even though I'm not pressing A, or keep jumping even though I'm not pressing up). Does anyone else have this problem?
I wish I could find a WALKTHROUGH for this game. Not a map, a WALKTHROUGH. A text file that tells you what to do to beat the game. I keep getting lost and going around in circles, even with the map.
Someone REALLY needs to fix that glitch that lets enemies take two turns in a row sometimes. I lost to Omen twice in a row solely because of that glitch.
OPTION TO REDUCE QUALITY PLZ.
My game freezes for about two seconds every time ANYTHING except moving left and right happens. It kills the dynamics of the game. :(
