The Best Defense! I'm Maro Rufus, Light Armour: the very best! What's that you say? Healing potions? No, this is a blacksmith's shop - isn't there a sign outside?
Although I like this game there are a few things that irk me.
1) If you've picked up any of the forge materials (such as Knight's Memento) it will not be there in a new save. Currently, to fix this you have to delete your internet internet cache since there is no delete save button.
2) Sometimes you'll get stuck and your character will not move (not the stun ability). To fix this cast any spell; if you haven't learnt any yet, you'll have to refresh the page.
3) Spell cooldowns continue across saves. If you die and reload your third level spells can still be unavailable and you'll have to wait.
4) The crafting system is somewhat haphazard. Finding recipes outside of quests is a chore (just save your time and Google them). Additionally a few materials (such as leather) are only used once.
5) Skill imbalances. Lightning is overpowered; white magic is worthless.
What this game really needs is a targeting option for the special abilities. Heal, strike and weaken in particular are frustrating at times and are based on luck rather than player skill.
In case you didn't know, the flipper power up stays throughout the whole level until you use up the charges - not for the life of the cat that picks it up. There are a few possible glitches in level 24, the easiest to achieve being stuck in the spinning batons where the wheel powerup is, if you get too fat from supermarket sweet (and possibly the soy bombs). Sushi cat also managed to 'enter' one of the spinning batons somehow. Aside from that, great game and the final outfit is worth collecting all the golden sushi!
I have nothing against the gametype or the developer, in fact I've 5 starred and favourited one of their games before. However, this addition seems somewhat sloppy: some differences are noticeably airbrushed/added on - with some parts being suspended in thin air. Some music variety would also have been appreciated, although there was nothing wrong with the tracks themselves. Overall it's okay, but not as stunning as Little Red Riding Hood or Dreams.
If you liked the concept of this game but didn't like its execution I recommend trying out Mount and Blade (and its expansion Warband). It's a retail game but developed by an 'indie developer' and plays very similarly to Feudalism albeit with more features.
Was the badge based upon the comment of undinechan by any chance? ;)
"I wish there was a way to make the cannons hold fire. 'Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes' kind of thing". :D
The game is okay... it has a good atmosphere but in the end it's still just a tower defence game which are hard to keep interesting, making you much rather to play Empire Total War. :P
I love how I was losing on the hard campaign and then when I turned the game around and was back on the offensive the AI refused to do his turn. What a dick. :)
The gameplay isn't the greatest but Tom Brush does an excellent job on creating music, sound effects and most of the artwork (the flowers and clouds being especially beautiful). It was recommended to me a while back and I recommend to give it a go, but don't expect to replay it often.
What can be said about protector that isn't already said? It's one of the most distinct tower defense games (and RPGs in Pet Protector) on Kongregate. This latest addition inherits the fame of its predecessors well - keeping the same style while adding even more content. My only gripe is the more narrow music library - only 4 tracks while the previous games had up to 8. Nevertheless, whether you play the game to complete the storyline, level up your heroes with ungodly stats, try to gain status with factions or achieve all the talent points, this game has a lot of content to give.
A vector graphics game with surprisingly good story as well as gameplay. Seems like a mix between Asteroids and Portal. The end level was brilliantly done.
Lacks any immersion that an RPG is supposed to have (NPCs basically say "Hurf durf, here's a quest now GTFO") and has not created a 'World' as it claims. There isn't really anything to inspire you to keep playing aside from the odd pun in an enemy's description - and even those are inconsistent.
Easy game which doesn't take as much time as other people make it out. However, the concept is nothing new as other people have pointed out (similar to a certain space game's miners).
I like how in this game people can shoot further than they can see(!). I guess they take out telescopes when they're on alert. Good concept, poor attempt. 1/5
Misspelt words, awkward to read with the fastest speed horse (strains the eyes), random combo counts and clunky quicktime event controls all add up to a horrible to play game, irregardless of it having ninjas. And if you are any decent at typing, the archers are a liability.
Getting the game to start is a challenge in itself which it shouldn't be. All I want is a 'Play' button, 'Options' and maybe a 'Help' one - not a massive wall of text which I can't really care less about.
