I wish the stats upgrades had a breakdown of how their speed is being influenced and what they're influencing similar to how the skills work. More info is good info :D
Those level barriers later in the game are clear forced longevity. Even in an Idle game it's not really looked at positively, at least not in my opinion. The rest of the game is very interesting though, but it needs a better way to lengthen the game. I can see how you would refrain from a restart mechanic since it's been done a lot, but using this slow level grinding as gates has never been nor will ever be a good thing. 3/5 and I'm hoping this major hindrance is replaced by something more engaging.
I was able to get to 10 server farms before the lag came back, and I just bought a Botnet and now the game is going frame by frame. The update definately helped, but it still needs work on getting rid of the lag before you can even think about adding new features. I'm very interested in how this game can grow, but it's still unplayable at this point.
Yup...I broke it. There's no challenge in this since even if your base runs out of lives, you can just keep going. But while you and the monsters freeze at the game over screen, your missiles don't...and I killed the last monster on the game over screen, hit continue...and now it doesn't end. This game has no challenge, the monsters are basically just an army of clones with like 3 variations of attacks and nothing else, and the game feels unfinished, I mean you can't even tell how you make money or how much money you have until the end of the round. It's just all around meh...
"This game is a port from Facebook." Really? Well that explains a lot...and it actually is an interesting little experiment even if it wasn't intended. This really shows off all of the problems with Facebook games. These "Wait to play" games that Facebook loves so much are really flawed. There is a difference between a "Casual game" and a complete waste of time. It's good to see that people on Kongregate in general realize this because Wait to Play games like this have top comments all talking about glaring problems, which I suppose people on Facebook don't care about. if only Facebook game makers would try this experiment and try to make a better game through it. Maybe this wait to play crap will go away...or at least become more tolerable.
I enjoyed the upgrade system and the freedom of choice in the side upgrades allowing things to overcome their weaknesses, and coming from an RPG player, the grinding really didn't bother me that much. My problem came from lag and challenge spikes. Not to mention a lack of story (not that the first really had a story, so having a story at all I suppose is an improvement) or the one time use upgrades, which honestly I felt was a poor use of the ice powers when everything else got its own weapon. I've also never been a fan of these games costing money, and the fact that yours were so expensive was especially damning. Still, with better coding to reduce lag and a little polishing, this could still be a really fun game. I give it a 6/10 on Angry Joe's Scale, Slightly Above Average. Or in my own words, Good, but could be much better.
I always love these kinds of games, even the basic Tentacles Wars. That, and upgrading (also such a favorite I even enjoyed the Upgrade! game as well as its sequel) means you'll get no complaints from me...other than the fact it was too short! A long, intricate storyline to drag this game out and make it nice and complex would be awesome! Of course...don't drown the game in storyline...
I have just patched the lag, hopefully it will work better for you now.
