When you do what you are told, it's easier to understand and define things, but lacks color. When you disobey what you are told, it makes things confusing and hard to understand, but will be colorful. As in life, when you fallow a set path, life will become boring, but easy to understand i.e. taxes, loans, bills payments, etc. If one fallows a path where they do not listen and obey, it will be colorful and exiting, but will be confusing. The voice could be interpreted as a voice such as the government or the standards of living, where one life leads to a business job and the other a more relaxed rural living, hippy-ish, though that would not be the correct term
