remade, the speed of the block goes up just a little with each hit, but if you get a big combo early with lots of hits then the speed will still have gone up for each hit.
Thanks! This is an updated version of my older game "Kevin's Falling Blocks Game". All of the changes were based on suggestions from the Kongregate community!
Big News!
In the month since I first uploaded this game, I have gotten so much help and advice from the Kongregate community on how to improve the game that it actually feels more like a different game than just an updated version of this one. So, I decided to actually make it a different game! I reverted this one back to the original version that I first uploaded, and created a new game called Blocks that is the updated version everybody helped me with. This way you can see just how far it has come with all of your help. I can’t thank everybody enough for all of the help and support. And now, I can start working on a new game :)
I added a "thanks" page to thank everybody who helped me make this game. I'm sure I forgot to include some of the people on the chatroom who helped me, so send me a message and remind me to add you if you helped! :)
ww52, I agree, but I'm going to wait until the game is done. I imagine the difficulty will go up and down a couple more times before then. Should be soon :)
I added the ability to aim the block based on where it hits your paddle. Now you can get combos on purpose instead of just by luck. I think it also adds a little more challenge to the game since it's more difficult to predict where the block is going to bounce next.
Ok, this last update was a big one, and I don't think I got all of the bugs out yet, so if you see it do anything that doesn't look right let me know and I'll see if I can fix it. Thanks!
A lot of good ideas! Some of them I already have on my to do list. I only have a limited amount of time per day to work on it so I'm going after the quickest things first. Thanks again to everybody for all of the helpful suggestions, and keep them coming! :)
Ok, I added 5 powerups (actually, 2 of them are powerdowns). This should make the game a bit more interesting. I have a few more in mind that I'll be adding later too, but first I need to catch up on adding sound effects for the newer features.
Thanks to everybody for the comments, they were great ideas! I followed up on some of them. I fixed it so the blocks and paddle can't go off the screen anymore (except for the wall blocks that crawl down the edge of the screen, they are halfway obscured for a challenge). I also made the paddle blink when you get a hit. There's a pause control now. I added music, and mute buttons. I made the music myself too, let me know what you think of it! :)
