Tower of Greed

It's rare that a nostalgia game is actually good, which is why this is great. It's fast-paced, easy to get into, and challenging (The people claiming it's all luck are sore losers). Any plans to make a floor editor?

I'm not a big fan of the upgrade system - a bit too simplistic, too few opportunities to gain points. On the other hand, the enemy design is great. The bosses have a bit more personality than those in, say, Frantic. If you do a follow-up, I suggest adding some passive enhancements and adding varied goals for each level.

An interesting game, but it has some serious balance issues. The guns take entirely too long to reload and the drop in accuracy, while a novel idea, is a serious detriment given that you need to be firing constantly.

Worst game is right. Once you get the Rod of Oppenheimer, this game is a joke.

The controls in this game seem terribly awkward. I never did realize why up wasn't the jump button - true, it's used for entering doors too, but lots of games have it pulling double duty. I wouldn't consider it a problem but for the fact that, unlike the previous entries, this one is under a time constraint. Having to shift my hands between three positions isn't too bad when I have all the time in the world, but it's more of a hassle with that timer in the corner.

Oops! My mistake. Carry on, I figured out the stupid thing I was doing.

Problem: Buying a new gun when you have more than one pistol causes the game to switch back to the Colt .45 and I can't find a way to change back. Makes all the cash I poured into the S&W rather pointless if I can't use it, no? (Speaking of which, the handguns make for nice substitutes for SMGs if you're saving money. Or they would, were it not for the fact that the game won't let me use them)

Bars of Black and White

I like the atmosphere, but it really is too short. The problem is that, while they are interesting, the bar codes aren't necessary at all. Once you know what to do, you can clear the game in under a minute without even finding the scanner. An odd choice for a game in which bar codes are so prominently featured.

Solid piece of work there. I like that this game allows for multiple solutions - easy way vs. smart way type stuff. It makes this less frustrating than similar games. A hint for anyone aiming for a 25-life completion: you only have to lose a life on levels 1-3, 1-4, 2-2, 3-3 and 5-2. Incidentally, I feel like an idiot for taking so long to figure out how to clear 1-3 on just one life.

Glad to see this back on Kongregate, it's definitely going in my favorites. It's just too bad that so many people don't get the joke. Same thing happened with You Have To Burn The Rope - you make something clever and edgy and all anyone wants to say is "wat? bad game lol you dont shot anyone or nothin."

Anaksha: Female Assassin

That being said, there's an awful lot of sexism here, isn't there? If LABoogie really thinks there's any equivalency at all between wives spending their husband's money and husbands beating their wives with heavy objects, I think we should probably get him an electronic anklet right now (assuming he's not already wearing one).

Anaksha: Female Assassin

There's a lot of problems here: all the targets look basically the same, the targeting system makes no sense thematically (I lose credit for the kill because I shot the guy in the back of the head instead of the jaw? Really) but I'd like to discuss the story. It's clearly supposed to be the strength, but it's not. I got a little excited when it was suggested that Anaksha was killing the wrong people, but you masterfully dashed that bit of drama. All the story amounted to was "Those guys are bad, let's kill them" with a sub-Star Wars twist at the end. I guess I see something fundamentally dishonest about taking a game about shooting people in the face from a half-mile off (and I'm talking most sniper games here) and then rationalizing it away by saying "They're bad guys, so it's OK!"

Hedgehog Launch

While there's a definite luck element in getting the hard badge, the claim that it's pure luck is clearly sour grapes. I've beaten the five-day mark twice in about eight plays. The trick, for those going for it: spend all your money on the band and launcher until you can afford parachutes and e-rockets. Buy the highest level upgrades you can to save money. During the launch, aim for platforms, especially gold ones.

This game definitely has its moments - dodging through a tight network of lasers and bombs by the skin of your teeth is pretty cool. However, with only three regular enemies, a boss (which admittedly does change) and no real powerups, the game is awfully samey. Without the badges, I probably wouldn't have played past level 3.

Love the changes, guys. One thing about earning cards from a win: I might suggest that, rather than a static 2% chance to earn a card, you adjust the chances based on the player's current card total. In other words, someone just starting out with the starters would have a better chance to get a card than someone like me.

I appreciate all the little touches that went into this game, but all things considered I like SCGMD2 better. Part of it is the song selection - just under half the songs are over 3 minutes, and songs that long make my hands hurt. It doesn't help that those songs tend to just repeat the same combination two or three times. It's not a bad game, I just like the previous one more.

@AlienKitty, seeabove and various others: There seem to be some problems with Kongai's RNG in general. I assume they're working on making it more fair (right, guys?).

Oops, messed up some math in that last post. That attack would actually deal 5 damage. Still, the point stands.

@xgamer90: Remember that with multiple hit attacks, resistance is calculated for every hit. An attack that does 9x5 damage will only deal 9 damage against a character with 8 points in the appropriate resistance.

@Uttel: Actually, it does show the odds for debuffs. The chance is listed as "Proc" right under the chance to hit.
