You can do it with any tag really, however span is the nicest as you do not have to modify its style in any way. But essentially you could even do bold tags, assign them an id attribute and modify their contents the same way and even set their style to be a normal-weight (non-bold) font. span is, obviously, much cleaner/more elegant though :)
