Got to level 20 and was killing dragons without divine edge a second ago - the key is trying to get golden tickets - they multiply your gold from a kill by 10 - which is enough gold to keep you going and to get your enough decent upgrades.

I like the difficulty - very retro. Younger gamers clearly don't remember the golden age with high scores, high difficulty and no save files! :D
