One solution to get a room up and running would be if everyone that is really interested in playing it added me as a friend and suggest all your friends who are interested to do the same. That way when 6 or more people on my friends list are online I can send requests to join in on a game.
I agree that the game desperately needs more players and I'm hoping it will get enough high votes to be featured in the weekly and monthly competition list. It seems to me that its the place where the game receives quite a lot more attention. That's why every high vote is currently very highly appreciated as it needs a certain amount of votes to be featured there. And if you have friends that are interested in such games, let them know about it and start a room with them. More people are sure to join if you keep the room up for long enough.
On the 8th of july there will be a new version of Rebels uploaded. It will appear as a separate game and will have a lot of changes and improvements in it. You can find out more on the homepage www.kristoeevardigames.com . And the early birds will be awarded. Be there on the opening hour to qulify for the Early Bird bonus. And be sure to bring your friends with you.
Currently I'm working on a bigger update That includes atleast 1 added gamemode, 1 new map, a whole new graphical interface, new weapons and possibly even character customization. Regretfuly I currently don't have any funds to promote it, but after the update I will try to get the word out there in any way I can. Currently it seems that to get a nice game going one would have to spread the word by himself and encourage his friends to do the same. Giving a good rating might also help the case.
@sherwooddungeon A 500 pound computer should be more than enough to run this game on highest quality if the right hardware is used. If you are ok with sharing your system specs, they might help me solve the problem.
Also, I will be constantly reading the comments, so if you have suggestions, feel free to post them here. Comments like qwerty's for example are not much help at all. It seems that the biggest flaw he found with the game was that the lack of ingame instructions. A really minor flaw that doesn't have almost anything to do with the game itself. And as I am an indie developer I don't have any funds for an ad campaign and have to rely on people being patient at first as you can see from the number of plays there aren't many players playing it and people downrating the game because they weren't able to find rooms is certainly not helping the case.
I really appreciate the constructive criticism and I'll be able to improve my game according to these. And I don't think the general idea is too hard to comprehend to make the players go through in-game instructions. I don't actually see what the problem is with making a game mode similar to a one that exists already. I bet no one would say a single bad word, when I made just another ordinary shooter, with the default game modes that any other shooter has. But I wanted to offer alternative to a game mode that currently, as far as I know, had none. Of course I respect the people that thought of the concept, but I think you are clever enough to realize why I wont be promoting a game in the same category as mine. And I am currently working on new game modes. I just wanted a working formula to give this game a kickstart. I found TTT to be the most interesting and intuitive concept out there, so it seemed like a good place to start.
All the best, Kristo
Thank you for the comments, you can actually customize the controls in the main menu under player profile. Guess I should move it to the settings menu, as it is more fitting there. I'll be fixing the chat bug in the next update aswell. It seems the bots may be necessary, but I'll see, maybe I can get it some publicity and try and keep a room running with myself and a few friends. And traitors mode can't be made for bots at all, as human interaction is needed for this game mode.
I really appreciate you waiting for players.
The game certainly needs some publicity, so if you have friends that like these kind of games, ask them to come and play with you at first. I'm sure that after a little while other players will join in also.
