A couple of nice additions would be: 1) Changing the order of party members, 2) Training in increments for each stat (upgrading a stat fully to the next number or as much as allowed), 3) Seeing how many fish it will cost for the next stat upgrade.
I like the addition of field abilities but I miss mixing and matching equipment pieces. One of the best parts of the first game was running around looking ridiculous.
