I contend that the last level is a puzzle. It's entirely beatable by solving the exact positioning of the paddles so that the ball travels exactly up and down.
I have been playing video games for over 20 years and the game mechanic at the end of this game is absolutely the worst thing I have ever seen. Painful, useless, and completely broken.
