I cannot play it on chrome at all i never had an issue with unity and other games but here it chrashes after 5 minutes at most.
For the design decision of energy:
As developer you should always have a good reason to stop / frustrate ppl from playing your game. Energy usually stops ppl from playing and also fs likely to frustrate power players or even normal players when it is very tight, (except if it so abundant that the vast mayority never will hit the cap) so it should never be used without a well plan on why to use it.
i for myself usually read the comments before i play a game and when they complain about energy i tend to not even try it because when i like that game i feel frustrated when i reach the cap.
Energy certainly is a polarizing feature of modern games, but of course no developer (or at least I'd hope that no developer) would put energy in simply to annoy players. It has a use no matter how evil it seems to people outside the industry.
"They outline how you can play the game constantly without running out of energy." If you can do this what is the reasoning behind having energy at all? Annoying Player who dont dig into tutorials?
It's not like we're ignoring Chrome on purpose, we even had Unity people come in and try to help out why it's proving extremely difficult to pin down exactly what it the issue between the Chrome/Unity/The Gate trio

i have read your comment that the game server now cost more than the game brings in revenue,
I can imagine that it is frustrating when you create a game for other player and the community stays small.
I think you have a marketing problem. What i would suggest you is following:
Dont give it up but start an ultimate battle to get it to live again.
How to do this? well first of all make advertisements. Convince the community to post on facebook social media and others.
Then try to get better than 4 stars.
Ask zanzarino of elements the game if they can share some players with you by posting ads tell them you have only a small budget but thats better than nothing.
If the servercost is really a problem and not only a moral issue then go ahead and reprogramm it to let the client take the most load even if it reduces safety against cheating or problems.
Otherwise, you really should not give up so easy on your baby.
