If this happens again, can you send us a screenshot of what you mean by this? (Use the "Game Bug" button below the game). EDIT: Oh, yeah it was probably just that you had upgraded cards. Upgraded cards count for both possible values when used in equipment!
This game would be much harder if this were fullscreen/you couldn't move your cursor out of the game during a level. Then you'd actually need to move your mouse with purpose, and try not to accidentally hover over anything.
