I'm sympathetic to their wanting to get paid for their hard work producing a game. But I am not particularly sympathetic to a marketing plan that says, "Hey, lets make a game that is nominally free but incredibly boring/grindy to play unless you pay, in which case it is boring and easy. For me, that is incentive only to move on to either A) a free, fun game or B) a paid game that is more complex and interesting.
