Alright, of your games, which I usually really enjoy, this one was very... illogical. What would make me think to pour boiling water on the porch, or draw a tree in the steam? There is no clear hint to it. Otherwise, another interesting addition to your story. As a side note, you can find the postcard your father drops it by clicking in the space it will eventually appear.
Two suggestions: One, make the up button allow you to jump. It's a little more comfortable for some, or if you just want to play with one hand. Two, those lights, I get they are supposed to deter you, but they do kinda hurt. Maybe make the screen fade softly to white a few seconds or something that still effects vision but in a less... violent way?
Otherwise, I'm enjoying this. It's an interesting take and something new around here, so good on you. :]
First of all, I really love the music, especially the world map. Gives me warm, Golden Sun memories. As far as suggestions, if you choose to continue this, the art needs polishing, and while there are a lot of options on the character, the clothing all feels fairly similar. Obviously that isn't of the highest importance, and some of the english is strange. I'm sure you've already had your options explained to you, kickstarter, paetron, etc. Ultimately that decision falls to you. I did enjoy playing, and you did very well to make it this far, especially on your own. If -you- want to see the story out there, I suggest you find the means to continue, be it through support or moving to another language. But if -you- are 'done' with this project, allow yourself to move on to whatever suits your fancy. Thanks for a fun few hours. I kinda want to draw some of this.
Recalling brought me to a black screen, which loading now brings me to as well. I used it a few times before with no problem, but this time, the season had changed to Autumn while I was away, perhaps it's related? Either way, I can't continue.
So the watering can has an endless supply of water, there's a lake right outside the farm, and I have to quench my thirst with whatever berries I can forage?
I'm surprised I could complete this AND find 4/5 secrets without a walkthrough. But thats a good thing, challenging enough where I had two main issues but got over those in the end. Some of your past games were a bit tedious or too... mathematic. Secret after-stories are interesting, and comforting in one. Trying to find that fifth one now...
Wow, that part with Daphne was beautiful. For those who aren't aware of it, in Greek mythology, Daphne was pursued by Apollo, and became a tree to avoid him. Because he still loved her, he granted the tree eternal life. (The library entrance gives you a tip on this.) Here, from Daphne's coffin burst a tree, thriving in an impossible place after you place the violin near her heart... What a beautiful image. I am very impressed.
Very interesting. This definitely followed on the strangeness in dreams where something that doesn't logically make sense can be understood and accepted in a dream. Graphics surprised me to find they had more depth than you would assume at the start. I enjoyed the small island-world. The Weaver had a very neat design, by the way, I wanted to say that was pretty impressive. The dialog was at times, though, outside of the atmosphere... I guess it felt very physical rather than flowing. I know that's an odd way to describe speaking... anyway, though, overall, very nice! Thanks for your efforts to make an enjoyable story!
Very easy, mainly because we aren't restricted by the number of points/edges we can use, which allows very thin, strange shapes to be made (for example the level near the end is solvable without using the second pen or pivot) but the game also very adorable, I was smiling through many parts. :] I also do appreciate it wasn't impossible, since I'm more of a casual puzzle-gamer, haha.
Not impossible, just hold jump and you avoid everything, for the most part. Not a very rewarding game. You open with a story and then it never completes, also, the upgrade interface is confusing. Not a bad try, but definitely needs work.
Nom Nom... The ender of dynasties. /=_= I salute you, and all the cougars out there. And Im pretty sure my families were 90% lesbian. Just. Sayin. xD
Anyway, it was a fun game! I spent quite a while playing. :]
After finishing both endings, I enjoyed the game, as well as the music. Very clearly the theme is of our choice; morality. The main problem I had with how the game plays is you cannot choose to avoid committing the sins which need redeeming in the first place. After playing about halfway through, I restarted, thinking If I could collect the gold pieces, then turn around come the guardians, I would complete the game as a moral person. However, working to get the conch or any keys wont work without killing, so you really have to be immoral, with the final redeeming. I doubt you'd edit the game at this point, however, in the future, perhaps make the game more open to our choices from the start, rather than choosing "yes" or "no" at the end. Either way though, I really enjoyed your game. The music was nice too, so pass that along to your composer as well. I'm glad to see there is a sound track; too many games are made on flash with great music you can never find.
For complaints about a map, this is made as an old-style RPG. Back in the day, you drew your own map on a sheet of paper. You don't need one programmed in, be an explorer and build one yourself! C:
Seven hours spent on over half a week of playing... This was a really fun game, and I don't think Ill find one quite as long (in the good way) around the internet for quite a while. Great job!
So, I'm still wondering, in the swamp, you ask if Henry is around when you go near an object you probably wouldn't head toward to complete the level.
As far as I saw, it did nothing?
The game gave an interesting new perspective to the story... Im not sure how I feel about Jack, now.
