Finished it the first time through. I'm confused as to what the point of the floating monsters was; do they actually attack, or are they just to increase your score tally?
A beautiful game, with fantastic variety, atmosphere and game dynamics. I love that you've combined all the best elements of GemCraft, Villainous and Pokemon (chuckled at the choice of three levelable creature companions) into one amazing TD, and then added your own free-roaming aspect. The graphics are stunning, the development feels solid and I was never bored because each level added a new strategy to my arsenal. My only note would be that I felt it lacked in story-line. There's amazing potential for depth of characters and back-story here which I didn't feel was fully utilized. Otherwise, 5/5!
The game keeps freezing and displaying an exclamation mark whenever I successfully earn a reward, forcing me to refresh. While I retain the reward, it's still incredibly frustrating. Why is this happening!? :(
While playing a magician I encountered two bugs early on. Firstl, one of the phoenix archers near the cave at the far south west corner of the map managed to walk through the cliff, making them impossible to hit. Similarly, the Colossal Shard Guardian in said cave managed to fall into the cliff around the edge of the final room, forcing me to reload as I couldn't kill him or exit the sequence. Other than that, excellent game Djugan.
Fun idea, but the setup isn't very intuitive. Is there a reason the fire breathing dinosaur is burning down the cities? Do you earn more points for using fewer fireballs? Do you get damage points for simply letting the buildings burn? It feels clunky trying to work your way through these questions while playing the game.
Peep: Aiiieee!
Robo-Fireman: Just a moment sir. Excuse me whilst I go and collect these shiny gold coins. Sorry for the hassle, but I'd like a bigger water tank. Enjoy being immolated, and have a great day! :-]
@SpongeMandan: I believe the 'ANT' situation you described is more to do with the power (number of cells) within the organism, rather than the number of tentacles it can extend. Sending out one tentacle doesn't necessarily reduce the number of cells below the number required to form an 'ANT', meaning that it doesn't revert to the lower level organism.
Very nice twist on an old game type. Love the idea of tentacles - the constant supply of cells helps to make the game feel much smoother than the system used in Phage/Nano-Wars type versions. The difficulty curve is very well done, although you do have to make a couple of leaps of ingenuity with placing and timing of cuts. My only suggestions would be to add the ability to make multiple cuts and that this is a game with great potential for a multiplayer aspect. :D Please DON'T add an upgrade system, as it would overcomplicate a game that is brilliant in its simplicity. Looking forward to a sequel!
@Puzzler99: Momentum is the right term. An object's inertia is "its tendency to remain in its current state of motion". Its inertia never changes, and so saying that an object "retains its inertia" is redundant.
