I love the degree of comments you've gotten on this, from 5/5 awesome, to 1/5 crap. I'll give it a 2 of 5, it's challenging and has some decent growth it could undergo to become a very interesting game.
1. Carbon Dioxide, or carbon oxide is far too dense to fly up like that.
2. The pea shooter solution, while it certainly doesn't utilize tungsten bullets (which are surprisingly eco friendly) or Lead bullets (which wouldn't be) it utilizes the biodegradable "pea". The problem with this is that popping the balloon still releases the gas into the atmosphere. Let us suppose you are correct in your assessment that CO2 is lighter than the air, congratulations this means it rises at a much faster rate without being encumbered by the balloon's shell.
Interface is simple, point and click; upgrade only helps with lives for as far as I deign to play. No new abilities, no adaptation as a player. Though graphically it utilizes decent images. This however is no where near enough to compensate for the lacking qualities 1/5
when I think timed reactions and animal cruelty, especially to cats. I still think kitten cannon. If you want me to love this game you have to surpass that one.
Search Kongregate for "You must burn the rope" This is a game in the same vein. However it does not have nearly as much intrigue and comes off as hackneyed. Not enjoyable, not interesting. 1/5.
I give 5s to games that astound me, that appear to have taken up to a couple years to have fully made. I give fours to games that hold a very impressive scheme. I grant 3s to games with good background and an interesting direction. Your game receives a 3. Basic concepts are spot on, the interaction mechanism is interesting and slightly challenging. However I do not find enough to motivate me to play it, no story, no learning, just balancing.
Perhaps you should regard the understanding game series. This is not a game, this is an application. Since all computers these days come with some version of "Paint" this is pretty durn useless. 1/5
