to those that wonder how the companion press G don't work hit save and quit and then immediately re-load your game you should pop back up where you were at with you partner standing there. it worked for me + so other can see

F my life spent 7 hour playing didn't get to the end -think its saved- come back the next day and OMG its ALL GONE!!!
