@hypnotic, the difficulty increases with level. it's already implemented, higher levels give more gold, more mods, and more (up to 30) plat for bosses.
@rickrollreversed um, no. the number of ships that are useless vs phalanx (minotaur, myrmidon...) would only grow larger. what we really need is to change how the phalanx works, to make it more suitable vs artillery and saphires. Id say make it fire 2x lasers, but larger rounds(artillery) take 2 hits to kill. Also, half the rof on glads phalanx.
