Somehow I ended up with only 3 air cards and two copies of the natural fury spell in the first and third positions during a campaign fight. I don't know if this is a thing that's supposed to happen that I didn't understand, but I've never seen it before.
The first thing that happened to me was I found the body, went outside, and promptly got stuck inside a wall. Looks fun, I'll try again, but that's rough, glitching out so soon.
I don't know how much this was intended as a poke at the lack of logic in most room escape sort of games, but I enjoyed playing a game where actually being rational was rewarded. I don't know that you're taking suggestions, but if so, I for one would enjoy a game built around empiricism the way this one's built around logic.
I was a bit disappointed in how good archers were. They were cheap, pierce, and easy to build up enough of them that they didn't even need support through nearly every level. I was almost never happy I sent out a monkey or bear, either, almost every time more archers would have been better.
I feel way under equipped for the fight once I got all the pieces, I think the pacing of upgrades to game progress is a bit slow, it's going to turn in to a grind fest now. The item values and their weights make cargo space feel like wasted effort, too, it won't pay for itself for far long than the span of the game (minus grinding to finish).
I'm feeling no love for any of the shotguns, they don't have the stopping power for taking down the real threats, the zombies with more health. Sure they clear a crowd of weaklings, but melee already does that. Maybe if there were more glass cannon threats out there I'd appreciate the sweeping power of a shotgun, but right now it's just an underpowered rifle.
I want to edit what I'd said about polymorph feeling useless. The problem is that it doesn't mix well with the tower's other roles. Polymorph's dangerous to use near the end because the unblockable sheep can sneak past busy towers, but it's great near the start of the map. That's why it doesn't feel like it mixes well with the tower's other uses, though, because the golem and the reduced armor ability I want to mix with other towers for best use of those skills, but polymorph I want to keep away from the other towers because the sheep will sneak past if all my towers are bundled together. The skill would be fine if the tower had other features that suited it to being the tower you build off on it's own ahead of the main defense, but two of it's three features are support (blocking and reducing armor), and it's third entirely contrary to that.
I love this game, and going on about why wouldn't be of much help, so I'll add a mild criticism. The sheep being unblockable makes me want to never use the tower with polymorph. The risk of leaking a sheep because it will slip through in a busy battle is too high when I'm being a perfectionist and going for no leaks. So, that's one ability I don't want to use, and thus it's a tower that feels worthless because all the alternatives have two great abilities, but this one only has one.
After clearing a save in which I had poison damage, I still seem to see the animation on my enemies for being poisoned, though I don't have any poison upgrades. They don't seem to be taking any damage over time, but they're still bubbling green.
I keep wanting to see this game redone with a character system like Elona Shooter. Perks, badges that add benefits as you unlock them, maybe even character types and weapons. Maybe not. There's a lot of fun in it's simplicity, but the style would suit something with more character building so well. Anyway, that's what I'd love to see in a new game.
I'd also chime in for some kind of campaign or challenge system for the game, it would be a more interesting way to unlock new cards and races than simply grinding them. A bit of information on the races would be interesting, a comment here and there on their strengths and weaknesses, and perhaps a bit of lore. Flavor text on the cards would be nice. Basically I'm saying I like it a lot and just want more!
I don't play anything with the music on, though I don't mind sound effects, being able to mute those separately would be nice. And I clicked a tree near the bottom of the screen and the "no" button was hidden under the "next wave" button, so I couldn't press it. Maybe those should just go away if you anywhere away from them. But the game itself is nice, it's a challenging, varied, and fun. I just wish you could separate element from skill, too many of my favorite mixes are all one element or another.
