Whoever designed 4-15 and the Destiny Mode stages in general should give their really shoddy approach to game design a serious retooling. It's bad enough much of the game before this point is somewhat of a grindfest, but 4-15 is extremely ridiculous to the extent that it's effectively forcing you to grind for things that you have no control over. I'm also disappointed that this game doesn't have a proper skilltree to diversify your setups, because there's almost no point to improving Paladog himself--you're effectively dead if your frontline is broken no matter what.

A pretty fun game, but I personally thought the whole sequential upgrades setup was a pretty bad misstep. Giving the player an illusion of choice when there really isn't makes the game feel more linear than anything else. Additionally, I thought forcing the player to complete all missions before being able to beat the game was a bit contrived--it feels like forced replay value. On that note, I thought the final boss having four phases was a /bit/ much, considering that your character has a gigantic hitbox and there are bullets everywhere. It's basically Miska Tonic or bust right there.

It's nice to play for a few hours or so, but then the grind and general repetitiveness kicks in. The mutation powers are far, far too imbalanced: Brute and Bolt are far and away the best, and if you ever get Swag in the later reaches of the game, you might as well just restart because it's -that- bad. Speaking of which, there are way too many obstacles and cars in the later reaches of the game, and because there is no probable way to avoid crashing into them, you're pretty much boned once you lose your hoard. Crashing into incoming cars and barricades is not fun, especially since there's no indicator. If you rebalance the zombies and add warnings, this would probably be a much better game.

KainXinth: Good job assuming I didn't play all the way through the game. I did, and my points still stand; the invincibility frame issue comes up too often. There are points later in the game where it is easy to get swarmed, and the damage you take trying to get free is huge. Even really really early in the game, it's easy to die if you maneuver incorrectly. Even a brief second of invincibility to get out of a swarm would be good, especially in later dungeons where enemies are taking off huge swathes of life with each hit. So, yeah, thanks for the assumptions! You get extra style points on the "trying too hard" condensation, though. Developer: I apologize if my review sounded like a flame, but please take my critique honestly. I appreciate you tried to do something different with a Zelda clone, but I think right now this game has too much against it for it to be unique, if you get what I mean.

There are numerous issues I had with the game; the really bland music, horrible AI, terrible dungeon design, but there are two that really stand out. The first is, obviously, the graphics. It's one thing to create a Zelda clone with these types of mechanics, but it's really something else to take all the sprites from Link's Awakening/Oracle games and only give them slight edits. You even used the head portraits from RPG Maker for the NPC portraits, which strikes me as very lazy. The second is the combat system. The fact that there are no invincibility frames for when you get hit is insane, and from the way the vitality system is set up, I'm assuming this is intentional. This is not good game design; all this does is add fake difficulty by forcing you to avoid large group encounters. To be honest, I'm actually sort of appalled at the quality of this game...it's completely generic, and I'm actually stunned by you guys asking for donations for the next entry.

I'm absolutely loving the game, especially as a fan of the original. That said, some of the later stages on New Game+ are ridiculous because of the insane firepower the Hazmat Guys have. Even with maxed upgrades, most zombie hordes will fall to a group of two or three, which are very common in most stages midgame on. Their resistance to most support is also very annoying. If their damage was toned down it wouldn't be so irritating, but Secret Base 2 and Copenhagen are looking really impossible at the moment. That's my annoyance at the game, but I still love it. 4.5 stars.

I have mixed feelings about this game. On one hand, it's aesthetically pleasing, and it's exciting to watch how the game world changes with each hole completed. The graphics are very well done, and I had a blast just watching everything unfold. That said, the game does suffer slightly from the design. Some of the holes suffer from needing to be incredibly precise to the point where a single error will more than likely net you a bogey. Normally this isn't a big problem, but it is difficult to aim correctly in the fixed perspective this game has. This is especially bad on tricky holes, more specifically on the back nine holes. The last four holes are the biggest offenders, in my opinion. Despite my frustration with aiming issues, I enjoyed this game as a brief distraction. Thank you for sharing it.
