Really great game! I enjoyed he artstyle a lot, and the quick paced action of the gameplay was fun. Not to mention the story was developing well over the course of the game, and I really want to see what's in store!
This game gives off a very Harvest Moon-esque atmosphere, and luckily, I am a major fan of the series. Exploring the world, getting money, aging, getting married, it was all really similar to the franchise, and very fun! Plus, the concept of the aging system is well implemented and interesting. There are a few problems with the game, however, as most games have. There isn't too much content thus far, which I understand, considering it was for a 10 day video game creation contest. Honestly, the fact you got so much done in such a small time frame is amazing. Another issue is that it doesn't quite explain how to do much, so it's mostly wandering around until you encounter something. I don't mean to compare it to HM too much, but it's similar in that way as well. Overall, I'd give it 4/5 or 5/5 stars for the time used, and the content provided. I may very well vote it for 1st place in the contest :D
Thanks a lot!
If you check the game "Updates" section, you will see I actually commented that some mechanics are à la "Rune Factory" / "Harvest Moon". I'm going to add a cave to mine (It's half way done, but we can not upload updates until the 1st of February pretty much), with enemies, and bosses in some levels and so on. Narrator will also appear more, and there will be more quests, so yeah :) The only thing is that there is not going to be crop planting/harvesting, which is one of the bases of Harvest Moon :)
Pros- Good gameplay, decent graphics, pirates, complimentary cookies, etc.
Cons- A few bugs, no real penalty for death, not enough cookies, etc.
Score: 7.8/10 "Too much water"- IGN
(But seriously, this was a fun game, especially for one made in 10 days. I don't want to make any promises just yet, as I haven't played all of the games, but I really think you deserve at least 2nd place.)
Very interesting concept, I must say! The gameplay was also fun and challenging, the music was very fitting for the mood, and I generally liked most aspects! I think the controls may move a little sluggish at times, and the game over screen is a little too long for a game like this, but those are just minor gripes :)
Nice job! I am a fan of arcade/80's style games, and this is no exception. I think the only real problems with the game is that medium speed is pretty slow, and fast is more of a medium pace. Overall, it's an awesome game. Best of luck to you.
For the time allotted to make this game, you did a great job! It was fun to explore around for a bit, and despite a few bugs I encountered, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience! May you be prosperous in the future, my friend.
My problems with this game:
1. No quality changer
2. Everytime I run forward in the first level, my guy walks through the ground and falls off map, only to be reset up at the house again. Why?
3. Considering it's unplayable, I can't accomplish the first quest.
Thanks, guys. Appreciate it.
Why do you, the employee, have to spend your tip money to buy things for the shop? Doesn't the shop have some sort of funds to spend on that, themselves?
Thank you! And thanks for the vote!
