GREAT change to the Curse mechanic -- I've been playing since early on (mmmmm....I remember when curses automatically stacked....so so broken!)
It was a little too nerfed with it just replacing the existing curse....I was completely shying away from characters and items with curses

I ran into a weird "bug" -- it's really a corner case under very specific circumstances
I used a scroll of greed when I was at low hit points.
This took me to 0 hit points
I tried to use food to heal myself -- nope, I was dead and my reason was "Death"
I laughed because I thought that might happen
If you feel generous, you could put in anything that takes away hit points (witch's hut, scroll of greed, specific items) a warning that tells the player
"This will bring you to 0 hit points and you will die -- do you want to continue -- Yes/No"
I think we'll make it so it never takes you below 1 max life. That way you can be greedy enough to wander around with 1 life
