I liked the first few levels and then the lack of variety took hold. I think a great think to do in this game would be to create different kinds of ammo and find a way to punish using too many shots... perhaps a total ammo count and money to buy different kinds of ammo.
I thought the game was pretty empty. Control of the hero was horrible. You can't even use a archer character effectively. I think the game had some good spots in it. Overall though I only gave it a 2. I tried to like it - but in the end I just felt like my hero didn't matter. I just started getting patriotism and hoping my other units would do something. I might try again with a melee character but the controls will probably be the same - clunky and outdated.
Solid 4 from me. I thought the game was cool. I wish there was a little more customization. Some things that would make this game better -
Boss Enemies that come in every now and then.
Some different kinds of turrents. Maybe turret slots that give you extra ammo or some cool random stuff like turrets that just push enemies back instead of damaging them.
The game could have gotten a 5 if it had a little more to it. I played it to day 21 and stopped because the last 11 levels felt the same as level 10. Once I got the laser and a chain gun turret it was all worth it.
I played this and played it - to the end. It got boring and its doesn't warrant a second run through. It is real fun - once.
A few random elements would be cool. I did like the fact that there were fire and ice giants. But for the first 20 levels it kinda got repetitive.
This just felt like a standard platformer. It was dull, I thought it was average - I gave it a 3. It could have been better if there was a little variety to it. It was like a lesser version of Mario Bros.
I really think that this game needs a few touches to hit a 5. I love the day/night aspects. But perhaps there should be more going on there - like arming your survivors - that would be a cool start. You choose their weapons and can spend some of your time teaching them different skills.
