To everyone complaining about colonists leaving, they need to actually get the oxygen/food, and some actions are prioritized over that (like fighting), so after a battle they may be too hungry and leave.
The endgame in this one is pretty hilarious. You start by sniping the wave with a machinegun (!), and when they get closer, you start spraying lead. And when you run out of ammo? You take your other machinegun, of course! :3
I love this game.
Not being able to max out the skills is fine, it introduces choice. But having only 5 abilities castable is a bit ridiculous. I'd understand if abilities were locked for a level, but you can just go to talent tree and equip whatever you want mid-battle! Having only 5 abilities assigned to numkeys is therefore only frustrating.
I thought I would like this game at first. But - the difficulty ramp is way too uneven. After the first 3 cities (I think) it just stalls until you get 2 ship levels higher in order to take on 300 hp ships. The same holds for endgame, as you need to grind for the best damage ships to take on the Dutchman. Gold is abound by then and you only need to worry about WP. Luckily, losing nets you WP based on damage dealt, so you can just lose to the Dutchman a couple of times and you're set.
All in all, I still liked it, but not as much as I could have...
I'll differ from most people here saying that I actually enjoyed seeing the two armies clashing in battle, and fun is what games are about, right? The strategy aspect, while weak, is not absent - the choice of upgrades is important. Had it not been for a lot of bugginess and somewhat ugly UI, this could've been a decent game. 2/5 for now.
