Not the worst thing I've played. Not a good game by any means, but it's still a series I'm fond of, so it makes the painful gameplay a bit easier to swallow.
At first, I began clicking and by coincidence I got the mechanics. "Photograph them doing something 'interesting'". I did so, not really knowing the point. The sound effects amused me. As the game progressed, I saw the direction it was going and I realized this was a commentary and recognized what the creator was saying. And then when it hit a certain point the dread started to appear. It became so much more serious as the music and the visuals shifted to something that, as a player, I could not control: I could only force it to escalate.
Very short game that quite powerfully encapsulates the state of our society's relationship to media today.
At this point I only come back when it's advertized on Kong's front page. Also, the fact that I need to uncheck the "Spend Bound Balens" box every single time I want to upgrade my Sylph with Mahra is ridiculous.
Of course, and there are many ways to earn gems in the game too! Such as watching video ads in your gem store or from the Fortune Teller from your Inn. Finishing quests, achievements, and leveling up will also help you gain these.
This game looks bare bones and simple on the surface but it very quickly turns into a slice-of-life of story centered around the gradual friendships that happen to spring up by chance. It gives me the warm fuzzies, and the music is really calming and unobtrusive. Overall, this game is a great vehicle for its story.
