The game keeps drawing me back despite having such a low play count. It might be a little monotonous but it's fun. I wish there were check points in between levels though.
Level 1: I passed with 0 deaths. Level 2: I've died 12 times and still haven't beat it. Along with the control adjustments others have recommended, I'd suggest considering the difficulty/learning curve. Other than that, I very much like the 2D retro platformer genre of games.
Hope everyone here knows that Foop27 was not the original creator of this game, and therefore you are addressing the wrong person when you say things like "Add a storyline" or "Maybe an expansion?" or when you donate money. Staggy The Boyscout Slayer II was uploaded on Newgrounds 6 years ago by Bodhi.
It's nice how there's a tutorial that doesn't really tell you much and then the very first thing you do when you start the first level is hit spikes. How was I suppose to know that there were spikes if I didn't learn about them in the tutorial? Beginners' trap, methinks! Also, it's hard to see much in general. The contrast of the background needs to be lighter, I feel.
For being made in about 8 hours, it is quite good, and it is scores better than a lot of incoming new games on Kongregate. In terms of actual gameplay...tt could use some improvement.
Since yesterday, it looks like the Hitler avatar was changed. The graphics *ARE* nice, but there are no goals. This is just another one of those Unity games that has a creative name and a imaginative (and potentially interesting) description, but all you get to do is walk around the terrain, wonder where your goals are, and fall of the edge of the world into infinite nothingness--at which point, I quit.
Huh...this game is kinda laggy. It's not slowing down my computer or anything, though, which means it's a problem with the programming. I'd like to play the game once/if that issue can be resolved.
I can't keep from dying every time I approach the left wall or try to walk past the pink light at the very start of the game. This looks like it could be an interesting game, but I can't tell what I'm doing wrong. Any tips?
My bad, I should have made it more obvious heh,
There's a whisper (smoky thing that, well, whispers) stuck behind the pillar trying to kill you. If you touch it, you die so you have to get the purple bush then press F pretty quick.
Good luck! :)
Well...at least you labeled it a work in progress. That's a step up from most of the new incoming Unity games that have titles like "Explore", "Adventure Game", "Terrain Explorer", and "Epic Adventure". I suppose the next step to take would be to think of some goals for the game!
Well thanks! I didn't want to get a bunch of negative comments from people saying "OMG SUCKS 1/5" And other stuff... I'm still working on it though... I've honestly never done JavaScript though. I'm just learning as I go.
Hooray! Other people who know about memes! Now, how is the gameplay?
Not terribly original, but the art is creative (kind of like Yoshi's Island 2 or Paper Mario) and the usage of memes is pretty cool. Brotip: make it so you don't have to let go of the space bar for Derp to jump. Otherwise, it's not too bad and quite a lot better than most of the unplayable crap we see get uploaded on Kong.
If you were going for the Star Wars scroll on your story screen, you kinda messed up. Your text began at the top of the screen but we didn't see it until the very end, because it scrolled downward....Unless I just can't read right and it all oriented properly. In that case, ignore this.
Huh...never seen a Unity camera control quite like this one before. I don't know how to fix (as I am not a game creator) but maybe some other people might be along to offer up a fix. Most importantly, you need to make it so the player's cursor is locked inside the screen. Beyond that, I don't know what else to say.
Methinks the music was stolen (borrowed?) from a computer game called MYST III: Exile, released by Ubisoft in 2001. I know this because I, too, have this game and all the audio files extracted from the game discs. Good music, but you might want to give credit to the composers/sound engineers somewhere. All the music I've heard so far came from the Voltaic Age.
Yes it is music from Myst 3. Also as textures get in other source. But also it is fully no commercial game in all means. Then I actually don't guess to describe any similar issues.
Huh, I would think the goal of a game called "Mario Zombie Explode" would be to hit all the zombies so they would explode. I was doing just that until I realized I was losing health. Then I had a game over, and I was disappointed to know that you actually supposed to avoid the zombies so there are no explosions--why not just call it something like "Mario Drive Truck Avoid Zombies"? So I came down here and commented...and now the story comes full circle as to why you now see my comment...
This is excellent when compared against some of the other "my frist game lol!!!1!!" Unity crap that other people post on here. Your game has an objective, and while brief, it is executed quite nicely. And I really like the objects and graphics you chose--they remind of some old computer games from my past. And none of this is meant to be taken sarcastically either. Bottom line: if this is your first game, you did a great job, and I should think you could do more and better in the future!
Yes, I just like the game so I downloaded it and uploaded it... :D You do know that I can edit this though... Right? xP
