Is it just me or does the FX checkbox not work properly anymore? I came back to this after a long time just to find that most songs are very messed up due to the reverb and delay applying to any instrument regardless of whether or not they have FX enabled or not.
It's disappointing 95% of the top rated songs are just actual songs people converted onto this instead of original creations. Really, a mediocre version of "I gotta feeling" has 104 + votes? That is just sad. Versions that one could call a remix are few and inbetween. If I want to listen to a "real" song I'll listen to the original and not your 8 page loop version, thanks.
One thing that has been bothering me for a while now are the save and step/net limits. While the save limit is alright with 18 slots (although I've exceeded those too and had to export songs the old-fashioned way again), the Step/net limit feels a bit too restrictive. You wrote on your blog the limit is to prevent people from uploading the same songs over and over with minor changes, but after making songs for a while now I've completely run out of space, and I'm not just slapping random crap onto there, I put effort into my songs (which isn't supposed to say they are good, just not half-assed). It pains me to have to pick which of my old songs I remove every time I make a new one. So to get to the point, I'd appreciate if the limit for your songs in Step/net was removed or at least raised. I don't think people uploading duplicate songs would be that big of a problem - there would be a few black sheep, yes, but restricting everyone else as a result is just not worth it.
Feels mostly like another plattformer with the only difference of making you slightly dizzy on some levels. While the circular structure is a good Idea, it isn't really utilized in any way besides looping the ground, so the whole implementation feels a little pointless. If you could come up with some ways to actually make use of the circular structure it could become quite an unique game. Music, Style and movement, albeit a little mushy at times, were all good.
One problem with the rating system is that everyone wants their songs to get rated now, but few people go about listening to random new songs and rate them. It seems arbitrary which song gets enough + votes to get more people to listen and vote on it. Maybe it would be good to force users to rate a random song every time they upload one of their own, could help with people asking for votes all over the place.
With games like this, there's two options for aiming: Either your bullets travel in a straight line from the character to the crosshair, hitting the first target in that line. Or your bullets only hit where your crosshair is. You went with the one that is less intuitive, because it's used less, and ultimately, less fun, because of the sheer number of zombies you have to manually aim at one by one. It makes aiming a bit tedious. Other than that, good game.
Let's see.
Good stuff: Graphics are nice, gameplay is fun.
Other stuff:
-The music gets repetitive pretty fast, just one song. Besides not seeing DarKsidE555 credited, mixing it up with one or two other songs by him would have helped a lot.
-Not being able to walk through your own minions can get annoying, especially when summoning a lot of them.
-Lichs are way too powerful, basically trivializing every level but one.
-Achievement page says "14 of 14" but there are 10 more free slots. A bit confusing.
-There wasn't much of a story.
-Buying and selling items for the same price feels odd.
-The stats are missing an explanation. While most are either self-explanatory or can be guessed it'd be nice to have some more info.
Anyway, nice game, scores high in the most important areas, while having quite a few kinks in others.
Well as said before, graphically amazing, but lacking in a lot of other department. Gameplay is a bit repetetive, but not that badly. The upgrade system that this kind of game almost always comes with is very basic though, being able to upgrade the weapon unlocks with additional points for example would make the player feel a lot more like he was making choices to fit his playstyle. The heavy gun feels a bit too sluggish to use, especially since a lot of the shots hit rockets instead of the enemy, so I find myself not using it very much. The music is catchy, but repetetive. And last but not least, a minor addition, I would have liked a way to switch from scene to scene in the intro instead of waiting or skipping the whole thing.
This game really hurts my ears. I'm playing with headphones and the shooting sounds, especially of the sausage launcher so far, are just incredibly shrill, even with the volume set to very quiet. I played this for 20 minutes and my ears are literally ringing minutes later.
Not a bad game, but I kind of got frustrated and lost interest when two greencoats just stood outside the range of my prussian infantrymen, just out of range from my cannons too, and shot at the two cannon bastions which kept healing themselves up so fast the level never ended. I then restarted just to see that you start at the same wave, but with all the defenses gone and your starter money refunded, which is kind of retarded, since you can't just beat the second-to-last level with your starting defenses.
So much fun, too bad it's still in beta phase. OH WAIT. It can't possibly be a beta because you already want us to pay you money. And you wouldn't do that if it was a beta, because, after all, they are for testing a game. Well, now I'm confused!
No pause or checkpoints, as aforementioned, but more importantly, the control scheme is annoying to say the least if your don't have an English keyboard but one where Z and Y are reversed. Not even switching to the US keyboard layout helps, it's still the same buttons. And no way to remap them.
Little buck, it seems.
When playing the entice, I just the injector pod to kill the enemies, but didn't recieve credit. I then switched back to the spike, and it worked fine. Yes, I double checked if it was the same enemy, so it seems there might be some issues with the injector pod.
Quite a few bugs, pretty repetitive, music get's annoying after a while. Also, I don't quite see the point of bosses dropping coins if your ship blasts off the second you kill them.
