I think that's because the zombies get tougher as you progress, so the same zombie will have more health. If you hadn't upgraded the pistol, it would have probably taken a LOT more than 2 body shots to kill one ^^
Think I've found a bug, in that my number of deaths on level 20 won't change from the first amount of deaths I had. Just finished it without dying but it still says 4, which is a bit annoying. Other than that, I'm loving this game :3
I don't know if this is the cause but I won a game and changed tab, pausing it in the process.
When I came back I went to level select from the auto pause (Instead of closing the pause menu and clicking next level like I had been doing) but when the level select opened it wouldn't let me select anything at all.
TwinsofMLB, the Newgrounds preloader is available for ANYONE to use, so don't be an idiot. Plus, I've seen crap far worse than this on Newgrounds, I found this pretty amusing actually, good job DrunkenOrc ^^
