Why do people whine about the lack of API in a game? Don't knock a quality game just because it doesn't hand out virtual trinkets. That said, this is a poor single level rendition of the fantastic Metro.Siberia with a bland emo rock song in the background, which completely ruins the mood of the game. Worth playing for fans of the original for a new level, but even then the level is very easy and doesn't pick up until the end, no doubt to force the player to listen to most of that dull song.

It's obvious the developer is a Darius fan given the branching routes, boss warnings, and great boss entrances. The game looks and mostly sounds (hate the nu-metal) great, but... it's so boring. Little enemy, attack, and stage variety just keeps things feeling repetitive. The journey to the boss shouldn't just be filler. The absolutely fantastic graphics and presentation are wasted as the game is just not that fun to play. I'd say the ships are too large, to the point where you really can't fit many enemy threats or bullets on screen without losing all maneuverability. Likewise, try to make levels more than just window dressing; look to the Thunder Force series for great horizontal scrolling shooter level design, with moving elements and obstacles which must be navigated around while fending off the enemies.

This is Progress Quest without any of the wit, humor, parody, or intelligence. This sort of "chat app" only succeeds in gaining the "developer" some bonus points for the submission, as this has no merit whatsoever. People who want to chat can load any game, let alone a chat app that features a badge like that simplistic Kongregate Chat, which at least offers some substance and looks the part of a game. This Idle is just a Flash clock timer; it's garbage.

The strategy posted works just as well on the "general" difficulty level, P3571L3NC3. While I wouldn't blast the game for being easy exactly, there's little trouble in completing the game due to the shield. I think the problem with the game is the time limit doesn't always appear to be a factor for whatever reason -- I had one match time out on me, but a few others just went on regardless of the expired clock. Since the clock isn't a factor, you can basically hide behind the shield and peck away at the enemy tanks when clear. All in all, this is a very fun, enjoyable game, but I would agree that the current settings limit the actual challenge here. Also, the boss tanks have way too much life to be able to destroy within the allotted time on the "general" difficulty.

bac0nbitz: Thanks. :^) I thought the UP/DOWN tip applied to the game itself and not the high score screen. The music in the game is great! Dunno why people keep whining for a mute button... or seem unable to adjust their own speaker volume to suit them... The only suggestion I have is for more levels. I think the game as is should just have one bad for a full playthrough though I suppose the checkpoint whiners could have an easy badge for a first level run through. :p

This is a terrific version of those sorts of Gravitar-ish clones. The vector look of the game keeps it feeling both retro yet stylishly modernized, and the game plays flawlessly. The tip to use the arrows to control the scroll speed doesn't seem to be effective. The game does a terrific job in making the journey exciting despite the player ultimately avoiding the same sorts of obstacles, even if it gets a bit crazy with the moving parts later on. Also, to those looking for checkpoints -- the level select acts as checkpoints of sorts, and to put in any more would destroy the challenge and point of playing such a game.

Nice presentation for such a simple game. Still, there's no real challenge nor reward for extended play to be found here, and the premise is just too simplistic to be interesting. It's nice for what it is, but I don't believe people will be playing this again after the initial taste.

The problem with RPG design, particularly in a PVP setup, is that it simply boils down to a numbers game, and whoever has invested more time will be "better," regardless of strategy or skill. Likewise, having the matching match setup my first on-line match against a guy with 20-something wins and leveled up mages which are doing heavy damage to five or so of my players per shot is ridiculous. People will min/max and see that the easy way to win is to block some mages for damage from afar. They are simply far too powerful and are the major -- though not only -- component sapping this title of any worthwhile gameplay to be had. The inability to use more than eight units hurts as well and limits the possibilities of building one's army, and being unable to swarm mages with cheaper units just further help make it strictly a magic bombing game.

Nice puzzle game concept with excellent presentation values, but the game is simply too luck dependent to be considered genuinely intellectually challenging. Grabbing bonuses seems to to be a crapshoot at best, and the abundance of limiters later on remove all strategy to be had in selecting and moving the tiles, instead turning the game into a "pray you have enough bonuses to survive" challenge. There's nothing wrong with being an enjoyable puzzle game with a simple premise. Over complicating things with limiters to the point where the player essentially has no say in the matter really hurts the game and make putting up with 30 save-free levels unbearable.

Killed myself to end the game at level 25 (since it's just too easy), submitted my high score, and still no badge. This would be a great Qix variant if it just weren't so ridiculously easy. The ball physics are great, but they also make hording the bouncy balls far too easy. Having 50+ lives is just silly -- people should fear death and have to be careful with the filler ball placement. The buggy badges just make all that uninteresting time spent going after the hard badge all the more aggravating, and I can't seem me bothering to play it again.

I agree. It's an average Flash game on the whole whose obstacles are simply timed to techno music. Gameplay is strictly average and not terribly interesting beyond the hundreds of other basic Flash titles offering the same gameplay.

Really nice game, though the fancy moves are automated by the general ease of the game and mostly challenge-free level design. For the amount of moves at Mr. Fancy Pants' disposal, he needs to find a game for himself with more obstacles and challenges so the player can't simply sleepwalk to the end.

Coil is a pretty visual poem, though the gameplay segments are rather lacking. I want to say it's worth playing because the presentation is so well done, but that would ignore the fact that Coil remains a poor, rather unenjoyable "game." The abstract nature of the playable segments and wonderful evolving theme do not absolve Coil of its faults, as "experimental flash game" still needs to be playable and interesting to be worthwhile game.
