The muflon (Ovis orientalis orientalis group) is a subspecies group of the wild sheep Ovis orientalis. Populations of Ovis orientalis can be partitioned into the muflons or milligans (orientalis group) and urials or arkars (vignei group). The muflon is thought to be one of the two ancestors for all modern domestic sheep breeds. It is red-brown with a dark back-stripe, light colored saddle patch and underparts. The males are horned, some females are horned while others lack horns. Muflon have a shoulder height of about 0.9 meters and a body weight of 250 kg (males) and 135 kg (females).
