This game would be much better with unlockable content such as bots, upgrades and maps.

I agree, the save option is necessary. The economics of the game are strong. I would make a warning that food is running low so that people don't accidentally lose 1/10 of their troops too often

To pass the campaign in late game I sold my flamer and bought a second shield generator.

I passed level 40 in campain. All you have to do is: after day 1: Buy an uzi after day 2: Buy two riflemen. ASAP: Buy Flamer. Upgrade Range to 65. Buy SCAR. upgrade reload to 2. upgrade ammo to 35. Buy wall hp Get a shield and a laser and upgrade weapon to grenade. At this point buy more soldiers and more repair. Sell the flamer and replace with a shield.
