This is definitely the best game on this site. As for tips on starting out, here is a guide: http://www.jestertrek.com/kong/starfighter/
On the human side, I started out with the Argonaut ship, then moved onto Nymph when I had enough kills to get the ship.
Definitely a unique theme for a strategy game. I found it easy to win hard mode by hiring all three hatchet men and have them all gang up on the opposing political leader for a quick win.
Just got over 1,000,000 points.
Advice for the hard badge: It gets CONSIDERABLY easier later. Like around after the 12 or 14th wave (After you fully evolved and have all stats maxed), you get a lot of "feeding" bonus levels where you can get huge multipliers. After around 16 (when the message below the stats keep saying "Happy Happy Happy"), there are barely any enemies, some none at all.
Hope that helps, as the challenge isn't as hard as it appears to be...
The key to achieving the hard badge is to use the heavy cannon (increase a lot of damage initially then afterwards life when you find yourself low on hp) and the shield gun (increase all into life) to protect the heavy cannon from regular fire.
I just wish that the guns you have upgraded carried over to the next mission though. Building from the ground up is tedious.
I don't know why people are so negative about this game. It is definitely the most polished of similar genre I've ever seen, and has plenty of nice upgrades.
Maybe it's the lack of saved progress that frustrates players.
Great game, I like how it is a simplified version of Starcraft.
The badges and card challenge was difficult but rewarding to get.
Managed to get to the 36th wave... how high does it get to?
The game has a nice nostalgic feeling to it, but the game is buggy. I saved at the den and tried to load up again but one of two things happen; 1. The game and browser freezes, 2. The game's image is all grass tiles. And use of the keyboard *and* mouse is a bit awkward. Try making it keyboard use only.
Also the script/dialog can be shortened... especially some of the exaggerated ones (Ie. the ones in the end)
Aside from that, the gameplay and battle system is slick and well constructed.
I can't believe the story ended so early... it left a lot of unanswered questions. Looking forward to a continuation.
The game was really engaging and the music was perfect.
Wow... the last enemy (boss) in Apocalypse was scary... It took less than 3 seconds for it to wipe each unit - and I had to quickly replace them with my excess cash.
Thanks to Phyra for the really helpful tips. (Upgrade quick and try to keep your population high for more cash)
I learned about Kongregate through this game from Gaiaonline. Congrats on placing on the top 10 there!
I finished getting all badges recently.
The tower of glory II was crazy! Took me many tries to finally complete it. Whatever happened to The tower of glory I?
Game works perfectly fine for me.
Save works, and my past selves seem to function the way they are supposed to - Just finished all the levels and collected all badges.
Thanks for such an intuitively unique and polished game.
