Awesome game. I don't really like the level select option. It takes away some of that incredible subjective feeling the game has. I think it would work better if every dead end would take you back to the beginning making some sort of Borgesque infinite labyrinth
Thanks for playing & commenting ^^
The infinite labyrinth layout did exist on paper but I decided not to use it because it potentially makes the player walk through rooms he already knows which feels boring. It also doesn't prevent the player from getting lost or having to search all rooms for that one block he didn't collect yet. It is a very interesting idea but it potentially makes the world feel very punishing.
I was unaware of this sequel. I don't enter to Kongregate too much nowadays (I don't do much gaming nowadays, I guess adulthood caught up with me). For those who are unaware of this the Fancy Pants adventures ware among the masterpieces of the golden age of flash gaming (an age long over by now) and playing this really bring back some memories. Beautiful game.
That's a goddamn strong narrative.
Some speculation while we wait for the next chapters (spoilers ahead):
Ink is a transgender (hence his change of name and the scar in his chest)
Sent plan was for Ink to be the only one to leave alive, with each other contestant intended to die at each corner (I might be wrong, but this seems fairly obvious)
Still, thats too little in contrast with the immense amount of mysteries left to unfold. Congrats to the developers. Really addictive game.
