0. Do not upgrade Launching Power a lot, since all further enemies give the same $2.5/sec; 1. First of all upgrade Base Damage; 2. Upgrade Auto-Fire only when it becomes cheaper than Base Damage; 3. Upgrade Max Shots only when according to Extra stats your Shots reach it.

It is unreal to win anything except the first "battle" with the weakest enemy if you didn't buy the second ship and upgraded them. So the first thing you have to do is to trade between the first two towns, and only then you can fight for the third.
