Sometimes I don't score any games higher than a 4 for a while, then I find something like this and remember why I hold back the 5s for something really special
What can I say... it's a top-down shooter. It's got nice graphics that most, but nothing else particularly special. Played long enough to get the first two badges, but otherwise... meh.
I almost didn't play this because of the horrible (sorry!) tutorial, but I loved it. The upgrade thing is genius, it's just as fun as the game itself. 5/5
Really good game; nice graphics, good interface, just enough humour to keep it fun, and decent female characters. I'm looking forward to playing the next instalment! A couple of suggestions: I agree with others that it gets tedious having to click 'end turn' when there are no enemies around, a map that expanded as you moved would be good, as well as achievements or treasure or something (as an incentive to explore the rest of the level when you've found the stairs), also an option to lock your characters in a formation you like, and character stats (like current spped)
"You're out of fuel!"
"You need a space suit to leave earth"
"Warning, low HP!"
"Your pet died :("
"Welcome to the Philippines"
This game is an emotional rollercoaster.
Checking autosave to 'on' seems to stop the can't-leave-starbase bug, but you have to do it again each time you leave starbase. So, if you've already got it on (rom checking it the previous level) you have to quickly choose 'quit' at the start of the level, then you can go to options, uncheck it, and restart the level with it unchecked, so that you can check it and fix the bug for that level. Did that make any sense?
I've tried this game so many times and not 'got' it, and finally this time around it clicked. Once I knew what was going on it was such a nice, relaxing game. Love it.
Argh, I just can't beat the last two levels. Oh well, I'm happy anyway; there are so many things to like about this game. The cute graphics and humour are just the surface. The range of skills the characters have are nicely balanced, and force you to think strategically. The navigation through the levels is really enjoyable (much better than a plain map or just the next map loading straight up) and there are just enough unlockable characters/other incentives to keep you motivated. Really excellent example of a tower defence game, and super fun.
