I got the 5th or 6th letter and it crashed.

Tip1: Your buddy has unlimited ammo. Give him/her an uzi/ak47/m4 and just finish off the zombies that get too close. Tip2: Strength is very important, even if you're going for a gun build, as it lets you carry more stuff.
