That nitpick aside, great game! I've seen someone mention real-time damage output and armor and such, and I can't help but agree. Also, just as a sidenote, am I the only one who's noticing that some of your stats (namely intellect) actually increase on top of the green +X next to them? I haven't really noticed if this makes the stats higher than what their green +X indicates, but it just seemed strange that this happened to some but not others. Wow, four comments. I need to write less.
2) Knight Chargers. They can charge as many times as they want, doing a sizable amount of damage. Oh, and they can Charge out of being Entangled for some reason. Stack this on top of their ridiculously high durability, and you're left with the situation that more than one of those guys on you becomes a serious problem. 3) Lastly, those walking furnace enemies. Infinitely, they can spit that cone of fire for a hefty chunk of fire damage. And there's no friendly fire. This one I could be okay with if their cone of fiery death wasn't, for some reason, ally excluding.
Pardon the multi-comment. There are three instances in which this becomes particularly troublesome in this game. 1) Enemy mages. They can just sit there and spam their fire/poison ball attacks, and if you're hammering an enemy when there is one or more mages nearby (thankfully, I've noticed that neither the undead nor the gnoll mages actually do this), they'll start spam healing the enemy you're attempting to kill, forcing you to change your attack focus to the mages, and even then you can only attack one unless you have an AoE spell. This leaves the (likely) melee enemy free to bash in your skull while the mages are either spam healing themselves or each other.
I love this game, I really do, but there's some things about it that just don't fly with me. It's not just this game that does it, honestly, but I feel the need to point out one thing in particular. Enemy MP. They have an infinite amount. Doesn't it seem just a little unfair that players are shackled with the hassle of mana management to survive while enemies can just crank out spells and abilities that cost a player sizable amounts of MP for nothing at all?
I have but ONE suggestion for future installments. Retroactive experience for newly-gained party members. By the time I completed the Sun Temple, my party's average level was 20, and then I get Solaar, who's five levels behind the curve. After completing the Dark Temple, I went back to Lake Qur and got Elwyen to join my party...and she's at level nine. Less than half the level of the rest of my troupe. It would be nice and save the players the hassle of either A) backlog grinding or B) putting said new party member in storage to never be used because of the drastically low level. Have any new party members come in at the average level of the party, and such issues are more or less remedied. Other than that, though, the game is absolute marvel to behold and play, and I'd rather spend time playing this game than most next-gen console games nowadays. Bravo. +1/-1 Agree/Disagree. :)
The last level, Crux, makes me want to murder someone. Seriously. What the hell is up with the spikes? I won't even be touching them and they'll kill me. Kudos for originality and all-around fun, but this game needs some fine-tuning.
And less sadism.
A really good combination I've discovered with Biological later down the line is: Sample Blood (L3) > Toxicant Form > Infect (L4) > Infect (L4) > Infect (L4) > Destroy > Leading Strike. Then it starts over. Leading Strike is optional, just to bring you back up to 100 Focus, if you're picky like me. To eliminate Focus worry for the combo, make sure you have Level 4 Integrity. To get the most power out of this combo, dump all of your stat points into Strength and make sure you have Level 4 Acidic Blood. This combination even holds up against the Baron really well, though the Disrupt method is the most efficient against him.
Average Time for all Missions: 90 seconds. Your Time: 40. Time Bonus: 5000. Number of Shots Missed: 0. Penalty: 0. Total Score: 5000. Pretty fun game. The final mission was tough the first time around. Darn small target.
