I really enjoy this puzzle game. Most puzzles on Kong can't be procedurally generated, or just aren't; meaning that there's a limit. I usually burn through those games quickly. Then there are the procedurally generated games that are just... transparent, easy, and boring.
Lines somehow manages to make every puzzle mostly unique and challenging despite being clearly generated puzzles. It's a different take on math puzzles that I really like and a unique concept in and of itself. As a puzzle lover, I have to say: well done!
This game needs serious help. All of the comments from others held true in my experience - the characters are drunkenly sluggish to control, the stats are woefully unbalanced, there's bugs everywhere, and I'll add that the text is a bit unreadable - on my screen, it's dark blue on light blue with 'shadowing' that obscures the text further; I had to zoom in past the size of my screen to read it clearly. C'mon, devs, you can do better than this.
So, ok. Supposedly all of us stuck at level six (it's been 4 days now) are doing it wrong. How does one do it right? I'm really confused. I'm selling stuff at the port, intelligently picking my upgrades... I may have to break out a calculator for this
Really need an edit/remove comment feature here, Kong. Anyway, correction of my last comment: from novedecillion/vgint levels to *unvigint/duovigint* levels. Obviously going back to undecillion would be a massive step bacwards :P
another voice added for the gap between personal level 6 and 7 being a bit tedious to overcome. A few more managers or upgrades to fill in the gaps around novedecillion/vigint levels, to bring up to undecillion/duodecillion income levels, might be called for.
Love the game. One issue: around the Quaddecillions area (2600-2700 stores) for boutique, the 2x profit achievement doesn't seem to apply properly. I go from 25qd-dec to 30ish, instead of 50ish as expected. Seen similar behavior for other achievements, couldn't tell you where w/out restarting and paying better attention though.
To be honest, I prefer the first one. This game is more streamlined, with less micromanagement - but I really liked the feeling of leading a herd of individuals with strengths, weaknesses and personal traits. That's missing here.
For the micromanagement issue... in the original peacefree, a few buttons to automatically optimize the personnel you selected for a mission would have been perfect (overshooting skill levels was inevitable unless you hand-picked your furries.) Something like that would have been better than blobbing all your talent pool up, IMO. Of course that's all individual preference; maybe I'm weird. (no maybe about it...)
This game NEEDS the following settings options: Text speed (way too slow! even with clicking to finish), graphics quality (I'm on an older laptop, it can't handle all this finery), graphics resizing. Please do this! I know that it may be asking a lot... but I cannae play this game too well as it stands.
Problem - I'm seeing odd graphics glitches, like part of the game screen is pixelated; it blocks the view of text boxes and such. The text also seems to be slightly displaced; text doesn't fit entirely inside its background boxes, for ex. I'm running the latest firefox on Win XP, latest unity plugin. Wish I could add a screenshot. I could play this game (played the hell out of it ^_^) last year; not sure what changed.
i found out awhile back, if you have weird pixelly artifacts on the screen, it has to do with memory allocation. i did receive a screen shot of this awhile back. it may be a winXP thing. i will see if i can find out some more info about this.
EDIT: maybe what changed is the new skyboxes eat up more memory than before. the game went from 14mb to 19.5 mb with the new graphics.
This game is a real gem - the gameplay is deep but easy to step into, the missions and storyline are clearly given love and consideration, and the graphics are charming - remind me of a lot of the NES-era anime style games I used to love so much. Thank you so much for making this, and keep making more!
So... I found all the logs, and I chose the 'aqua' faction. I see a button, looks like a globe; I click. I see quests - daily, weekly, monthly. Schweet! I click on the daily quest; and I see options - reinforce, attack. I see icons beneath these options representing the resources required to do one of them; I get all the resources/components ready. I click on 'reinforce', aiming to make my aqua team uber strong... and the button DOES NOTHING! Wryyyyyyyyyyyy? Currently at planet 27 (or thereabouts), so I have a lot of wiggle room to buff mah aqua bros - I can has please?
Awesome game, terribly underrated. The intro scene put me off a bit, but... I get it. The ending is a bit bittersweet, too. But since the rest of the game more than compensates, 5/5 for everything else.
Gave it a five because of the work & love that clearly went into this. It is also a very well done game, overall. That said, everything Ace Blue said goes twice - the balancing of bottleneck resources, especially that damned viscera, makes for an unpleasant grind. My suggestion is to both increase the number of beasties by at least 2x and decrease the required amount in recipes a hair. Also, the dynamite suggestion for spike bugs is a good one - it feels unrealistic that dynamite doesn't already kill them.
One other thing - I'm noticing a lot of millipede holes that don't have millipedes in them. Maybe 3 for every 1 that's inhabited. Bit of a c-tease, maybe change that ratio a bit?
Gave it a 3, because... while it's a fun concept, and generally well done, the time limit + game balance leaves one hell of a lot to be desired. And I say that after beating the high score (as currently posted).
No problem for the mistake. The good will to report something that you thought it was wrong is admirable ! Thank you for that :)
