Surprisingly charming in its simplicity and such basic pleasure. It makes me very excited and anxious with such little actual thought required and for that it's an enjoyably relaxed experience.
To those confused about what pressure means - need hull strength or you're crushed by it (The earth you're digging through is even denser than water after all). To get the maximum depth trophy, get close to 2500 feet of depth then hit a boost, you'll be invulnerable long enough to get down to 2600+
"Increase Initial Mana" Actually hinders your ability to start getting into the really fast recharge rates, as the price of the mana pool boost goes up with it. I made the mistake of buying it thinking that it was something useful, but it's not. You want faster recharge, and sooner.
I kind of think that the use of 2-bit graphics alone is what made people like this game. It forced them into forgiving graphics and looking into all the other aspects of why a game is enjoyed. If the exact same game content presented here were attempted at higher detail, people would get distracted by the images and wouldn't see the point.
Your instincts tell you to take the child over to the helicopter, but that won't work. You need to let the helicopter do its thing while you hold the sharks back to get ending A
What's great about this game is the simplicity of resource management, as mana is both your hitpoints and your materials supply, and gems are both tower weapons and ammo for powerful spellcasting.
The best way to protect yourself is to hide behind walls, and shoot guilded missles that curve around them. Whoring in such fashion got the final mission completed for me. Doesn't work on enemies with jammers though.
Had some major input lag happen to me when too much was happening on-screen. I'd then find my robot to shoot where I wanted him to shoot a minute ago. That's the only problem I had. It's not the worst shooter but not overly impressive either. I actually found myself 'tactically retreating' and taking cover behind obstacles a lot. Barging into the middle of a group will get you punished so this game does have a skill element that I like. Guys who are critical: All mech game series start small. Not until sequels are made should you expect non-linear campaigns, wingmates, etc. This game has potential if they can fix the engine's lag problems so weaker computers can run it.
Like 90% of the commentors here are rating the game as if it's not what it is, that being a dice game. Get it through your heads, people -- you have just as much chance of losing as you do of winning.
