I have several tips for you on how to make this game 10x better.
1. add more options. Example: Achievment. Upgrades. Controls. I have to go up a lvl to acces this now.
2. Add MANY more levels. The boss was cool. Make more.
3. Stats: Stats don't do a shit as I see it. Make the jump higer thing make him jump even higer. Make the speedbonus even speedier.
4. Ingame: As the levels increase, more and more cannons will appear. Make items appear too. Make items you can use appear. Make more health appear. This will actually balanace the game pretty much, since now there will be more and more cannons, but the items won't spawn faster.
5. shop: Make a shop where you can buy things. Gun to shoot away bullets (limited ammo) lucky amulets to increase item drop rate. Some wierd drink that make you hyper running around like a maniac, jumping to the skies. A Usable drink that will make you invulnerable for... 3-5 seconds(?). Use stars to pay.

It can be very hard to complete the story line quests if you only try to do them, so i highly recommand you to do survival mode so you get some gear first. It gives tons of experience compared to storyline.
It takes to long to lvl up when it close up to the end. I'm lvl 22 now, have the third hearthstone and the quests ask me to kill lvl 30 mobs which stands in group of 2 or 3.
Idea for impossible badge: Complete the game with Gold at all maps, including Zodiac memory. This have to be done on Nightmare Difficulty and on "XXX" amount of days.
The day limit will make sure that you can't safe it all by stacking endurance and getting phoenix

First tip; if you haven't already worked it out, the BEST items to stack onto your character right away are the Veteran Badges. For those out there who like to use Gelyan; Raise your beast into a Phoenix, upgrading only Gelyan's endurance and empathy with every level up, favoring either until they're maxed out, then grab two Gaia Vests. Okay, so this means Gelyan is just there to essentially poison things whilst phoenix does high spread of damage, meaning you don't have to aim much and since you're equipped with TWO gaia vests, the chance to cast grand cosmos is increased, also, since you've maxed endurance, getting hit should not be a great drama, especially if you let it happen consecutively after Gelyan's battle harness comes into effect, Phoenix's spirit eggs will keep you alive AND slay whatever's there simultaneously. May not be the highest damaging build, but its great to hack away at nightmare difficulty with.

Can't say i like the long loading in the start. It may be beacuse i'm seeding. But hey! It shouldn't take this long. The game better be good after this long loading!
The ending make itself worth 5 stars ^^
Only thing i don't like is the small amount of gold you get. Here all my units need 10k to upgrade, and i get max 1k each round. after game is finished you should get more gold
