bartie22, defeating the black shadow is optional and being beaten won't lower your chances of winning. And it's pretty likely that you'll be beaten the first time. If he beats you, your stats go back to 1, but you will be able to gain them much faster the next day.
Icarusvet, you're wrong. There is no achievement for staying alive for 300 seconds. There is an achievement for staying alive for 30 seconds, and an achievement called "This is Sparta" for hitting point 3 and then point 0.
