My first run after the update I fairly easily beat Gauntlet 7. Maybe I still got lucky and my prior attempts gave me the knowledge I needed, but the badge doesn't seem to be impossible difficulty anymore. While that is a good thing from a design perspective, I don't know what Kong thinks about that.
This game was a lot more fun when the Gauntlet was an Easter egg. I still literally had the exact same goal, but when looking at it as something that should not be possible, it's a lot less aggravating to repeatedly fail due to circumstances beyond your control. I do really like the game, but only up through Gauntlet 5. After that it becomes too dependent on getting getting a good initial blight layout. My absolute biggest complaint though is that if the developer of the game thinks something is impossible, there probably shouldn't be a badge to accomplish it, regardless of how many points it's worth. I did finally manage to get it, but that doesn't change my opinion.
I was having trouble with the medium badge. Then I gave up and started mashing the down button while barely even looking at the screen. I got it first try that way.
I actually don't agree that there should be a magnet upgrade in the game. While I do agree that the magnet should be stronger, I think that more games should start with a strong magnet that does not have to be improved throughout the game, or have money be collected automatically. This would be a major improvement to almost every game that includes monetary and upgrade systems.
After failing a level about twenty times I got all of the achievements the first time I completed it because the guards left a clear open path to the target and back to the escape point. The innate randomness of the guard's movements do not make for good gameplay, but for incredibly luck based tedium.
Why am I getting a massive amount of slowdown even though I have a good computer, am using low quality, unlimited storage, and have no sound whatsoever? Probably because of the bubble pulsating. Why is there no option to turn it off? I have no clue. That plus the really stupid stratigies that make this game really easy make this game a 3/5 at most, and that is really forgiving.
hard on beginner, but fun. 4/5 due to some annoying sections.
@ zer0nix: you can jump on the upturned spikes and from there you can reach the vine. You never have to wait for death.
