I also have the problem that the nex warehouse upgrade costs more material than the warehouse can hold. I know I will be able to buy a new manager in a few years, but I think an upgrade should never be *impossible* within a game...

There is nothing impossible in Holyday City! If you get your ingame upgrades the waiting time for Manager will be among 2 hours and 6 hours :)
