norathem, each circle functions as a multiplier. So if you bring a second circle to a bonus of just 2, it means that your entire production will already get doubled! Therefore, it makes sense to invest in other vircles than red as well :)
@ Jeffrey123454MC: Reactors explode when they can't transfer their heat to a generator. Does the generator explode as well? If not, be sure to check that the generator is connected to the reactor. Not diagonally, but right above or besides it. If yes, make sure that the Upgrade level allows the generator to convert all the received heat into power.

Even five years after publishing, this still remains one of the best games on all of Kongregate. The gameplay is wonderfully simple yet surprisingly intriguing. With more levels, story and strategic challenges this could totally become a hit on Steam, best comparable to "Infested Planet", which enjoys an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating. Hope you get around to do that someday, I'd love to buy it! :D
Blabatron, the game *does* autosave. The long textsave is just for additional security. For example, you might want to textsave before you demolish an entire power plant in order to experiment with new technologies, or when you want to load another person's build.
I save my progress every few days to be sure, but so far the autosave function has always worked flawlessly.
I just read your interview on "Complete Game Reviews" (congratulations!) and I was surprised to find that this game has been out only for two weeks. Sure, there is lots of room for improvement, but it's already so hilarious and charming: The nerdy humor is fantastic, and every single one the girls is lovable in her own way. I also appreciate the wonderful interaction of the developers with the community. I hope your future projects take you to Steam or Kickstarter someday. In any case, stay awesome :)

Seven general hints for starters:
1.) New buildings are unlocked by researching new reactors.
2.) New Power Plants (Village, Region...) will give you a lot of additional land to boost your income. Go for it!
3.) Fill obsolete Power Plants up with research centers. Income is nice, but research takes your power production to the next level.
4.) You get up to 16000 ticks while you are offline, but you progress much faster if you let the game run in the background.
5.) It can be more lucrative to keep a reactor's heat production low in order to combine each reactor with just two adjacent generators instead of having to build an elaborate heat distribution system.
6.) Each water unit converts 100 (!) heat units. Water pumps double as water pipes, ground water pumps don't.
7.) There are many great solutions for each Power Plant, with different advantages. Google various designs to discover creative usages of the limited space, heat exchangers and water cooling. +++ Hope that helps :)

This game has great potential! I particularly like the stock trading and the "ascensions". Let the bonus from each rebirth stack and tune the balancing, and it offers a nice long-term motivation for playing even as it is now :)
TimothyO27, before the second Ascension you might find the Energy skill "Cloning" very helpful - it doubles all your larvae! Cocooning reserves a certain amount of larvae for cloning, so that you don't accidentally spend them.
After the second Ascension, Time Warp becomes a lot more useful, provided that you invest mutagen in Bats and Timewarp :)
