Hero quests are too 'random'. There is not much you can do to increase your chances of picking up potions, so whether you succeed or not is just pure luck. Mana/potions are far too scarce (especially seeing to that they are the only interactions you have during battle, so most of the time you have no interaction whatsoever because you are always out of mana and potions).
Has great potential but needs a fair bit of polish. Where to begin? At unbalanced I think. If you lose things get even more difficult the next time around :( Lose dungeon = no more easy dungeons available, lose battle = enemies have time to level up more, lose plane early = less resources on next plane. I think the plane resources should be added to every time you go to a mission, that would begin to balance things. Battles are also mundane by the way, at least formations should be made to matter more.
d is for die/dice, first number is for number of dice, second number is for value of dice. . 1d8 means one eight-sided die, dmg is 1-8 with an average of 4.5. 2d4 means two four sided die (1-4)x2 = dmg 2-8, so an average of 2.5x2=5. So the 2d4 should actually beat the 1d8 average (slightly). Or at least that is how I assume the damage works.
Technically good, but far too easy :( After less than 1/4 of the levels all was maxed out and all I had to do was wait for a lot of levels to pass... Also several bugs. With balancing and maybe story/levels it could be a great game. Bigger screen and minimap also wouldn't hurt. Missing explanations as well, like what the goggles and bionics suits do and what lockpicking is good for. Took me some time to find the attributes-screen as well, should be in tutorial.
The game is very slow, reading the newspaper while "playing"... The night shift seems like a waste, does not bring anything to the "game". If it was possible to tell what stores are good together the game would become more strategic and fun, I just found candy and liquor are good together...
Why was I supposed to increase fly, climb and swim to 150 to enter last championship, when neither of those skills are used in last championship? Should not have been given badges in my opinion.
Starts out very good, hard to balance income and fire power. After a while you max out interaction to 0 on 3 guys and then its just a looooooooong wait for them to figure out that there are holes in the gas tank etc.
Pretty graphics, but even less fun than the original game, which is not at all fun. The addition of mines makes it you have to cover the entire board in shots, making it random who wins (if you don't put your boats along the borders, making them being sunk cover less ground, thus computer always losing) Adding some kind of original game play ideas are needed.
If you want a challenge, try playing without assigning a single skill point. Turns the difficulty from the default easy into hard/expert, much more in line with original Incubation :) You can complete a level with marines down, they will revive in the next level. And remember: bayonets are your friend!
Other difficulty settings: easy - default, medium - use one skill point / level (not tested), hard - use no skill points (perfectly doable, might lose a marine here and there)
you can buy potions from the shop and if you don't like a hero quest don't accept it and search for another quest
