I'm really surprised by how much players can influence how some parts of story goes. For example, without spoiling anything, I didn't realize you can do a jasmine-jafar-ish move late game, and only found this out after playing a few times.

Is there a way to find out what stage i'm in? trying to find out how many stages i still need to reach before 100

There's a mini-map in the top right corner. The bouncing gold arrow points to the green dot of the area you're on. Also, the monsters have the area number in the name.
