Very nice! So many improvements over the first one. HOTKEYS, stepping over cloth bags, variable hero leveling and a skill tree, forging and item enchantments, transmute item!, a town with NPCs, secret rooms, better graphics and music, a storyline, did I mention HOTKEYS? If this version was in Lufia II, I would never have bothered with the rest of the game! 5/5
There's an odd difficulty curve to this game that just doesn't feel quite right. Sometimes I was grinding away at the same levels, never being able to buy useful upgrades because the prices in the shop for the rare items are always higher than what you have. Then I would craft something and my hero would all of a sudden have 5x more HP, letting me breeze through a bunch more levels. I couldn't put a dent in death's second form, then a couple of good crafts and he goes down easily. Visually nice and action-packed otherwise though. 3/5
Thoroughly enjoyable, an improvement over the already-awesome first one. I really like the open-ended upgrade paths for the characters and their equipment, and the way the characters level. Clean battle system, hotkeys, minigames, sidequests, alchemy, good music... great job. 5/5
I was really hoping to like this game (Epic War 1-3 were great), but there are far too many things about it that just cause me to lose interest.
- Generic MMOG (what is the end goal?)
- Poor translations
- The energy bar (just a bottleneck to playing the game)
- Gratuitously expensive in-game currency ($100 for 15,000 crystal? really?)
- No selling items! What am I supposed to do with 4 guidebooks? Even a fraction of the 24,000 gold I could buy them for would go really far toward unlocking stuff at level 12.
- Actual battles are reasonably "epic", but also a serious grind. 4x/8x button please?
- No targeting of hero spells
- Unbalanced gameplay... ranged units are very overpowered (in part due to no spell targeting)
Exceptionally done. Everything that can be annoying about RPGs is absent from this game - there are options for fast battles, fast movement, hotkeys for everything, a clean inventory system (the junk button and the 'sell all junk' shop option are brilliant), and no need for status checking outside of battles (as you start each with full health/mana). Awesome!
Fantastic game with some great modifications to the classic - being able to attack more than one adjacent territory with just one of yours, and having all of the actions happen at once. Also, awesome music! Well done, first game or not.
Nothing added in the third chapter vs the first two, very easy with even just x2 and max out main action, and where's the boss? :( Also a random bug - my wizard had mass confusion as action 2, but hotkey 2 always casted that, no matter who was acting!
Having every single action need to communicate with the server (in the foreground!) makes this almost unplayable. It looks polished and fairly in-depth, but with every action taking 10+ seconds I'm not inclined to take many hours to play it through.
Thanks! That was one of my main goals and I'm working everyday to improve things based on your comments!
